Arrived in Modesto 8/29/16
I made it in Modesto and its pretty cool here. They took us to the lower income area to proselyte and we gave a Book of Mormon to this guy and he promised he would read it! and it was all in Spanish!!
Sorry I don't have too much time but today is weird so I will send a full email next week. The Gladwell's sent me a letter each and I loved it. Grandma sent donuts which was pretty great. I had to dry clean a tie because I got doughnut custard all over it.
I really feel the spirit here and I cant wait to start really being a missionary. By the way my nickname in my old district was 'el gringo puro' which means 'the pure gringo'. I said the closing prayer at a devotional with about 2600 people in it and I got a new haircut... which was weird to be honest. Anyway I love you all and miss you and tell the family I said Hola. I guess I meet my trainer tomorrow, I hope he can keep up!
I love you and miss you,
Joseph

Life in the MTC 8/22/16
Hey everyone!!!
This week was pretty great. We got zone leaders, Elder Morales and Elder Eaton who are seriously amazing at their jobs. Elder Resek and I got callings!... as the computer coortinaters. I've never thought of myself as an IT guy but I'm out of here this time next week so it's no big deal. This may come as a big surprise but we got an 'excellent' on our room inspection, which is the highest you can get so I'm pretty proud about it.My Spanish is progressing, which means I will definitely fit in with the Hispanic culture (Elder Morales doesn't agree but we'll see)I'm feeling the spirit constantly and my companion and I are going to challenge our investigator to get baptized this week so hopefully that goes well.I love you guys and miss you all!!ama, Joseph

The MTC Companions 8/15/16
Hey Everyone!!
I miss you all. I'm having a great time at the MTC. My companions name is Elder Joseph Resek. He's a goofy fellow but I love him already and he's a great companion and is teaching me about the gospel and Spanish language. He is going to Everet Washington (his parents are from Argentina). The other elders in my district are Elders Budding (from Argentina/ Provo) and he went to school with Josh!! He Elder Ricks is from North Carolina and is also my roomate He and Elder Budding are going to Long Beach. Elder Guerrero is our District leader and he grew up in Idaho and is going to Arizona, his two companions are Elder Perkins from Virginia (He's going to Saint George) and Elder Hooch (from West Jordan going to Knoxsville, Tennessee). The other Elders in our district are Elder Morales Sanches (from LA) and Elder Eaton (from Mesa Arizona) and they are going to Boston. Our district is very diverse and we all speak Spanish a little differently but we all feel the spirit so strong and the few gringos are really being helped with the Gift of tongues. The food is alright, the classes are long, but i have absolutely no regrets about deciding to serve a mission and serve the Lord. I have a stronger testimony now than any time in my life that the Lord loves us and miracles happen every day.
con amor,
Elder Robins
Saying Goodbye and Reporting to the MTC 8/10/16
Joseph reported to the MTC on August 10th at 1:00 pm. Our goodbyes were said at the Provo Temple grounds. Joseph was all smiles, dad was excited, mom was a mess, Grandma and Grandpa were a little emotional, and Ryan asked for Joseph's ipod....
Walking away with his host at the MTC. Didn't even turn around...
Getting Ready
Joseph received his endowment with family and friends in the Bountiful Temple on July 5th, 2016
His mission farewell was July 31st
and he was ordained an Elder on August 9. His first companion was his dad
(celebrating right after at Olive Garden)
