The One With the Gate 11/27/17

Hey everyone!

My companion and I felt prompted to visit a potential investigator we had met the week before. It was Friday night and the streets were empty (never a good sign), the fence had a very visible "beware of dog" sign, and the gate had a lock on it. We couldn't see into the back yard, and didn't know if that's where the dog was sleeping, but the lock was unlocked so we removed it and went for the door. When we knocked, a lady answered and reminded us that she was Catholic, so we talked about soccer for a few minutes (the team representing her home city was winning) and then just talked about Jesus Christ. We explained that we wanted to respect her beliefs, and that our message was one about love. We taught the Restoration of the gospel, read a little from the Book of Mormon, and promised that if she read it, pondered it's message, and prayed about it, she could also know that Jesus's original church was once again here on earth. She opened up and told us she hadn't been to Mass in a long time, and didn't even have a Bible. We told her that the next time we stopped by, we could give one to her for free. She responded that the Book of Mormon seemed more interesting than the Bible, and that she would just start with that. She then explained that the lock and "Beware of dog" sign was just to keep missionaries away (she didn't even have a dog, haha). She told us we could come back anytime, and on our way out she asked us to put the lock back, because missionaries from another religion would be coming by the next day, and they were not invited. It was a pretty cool experience.

Thanksgiving was pretty fun, we had a giant feast with a Chilean family with lots of food.

Hope you all have a great week!
